Naturalization is the process by which a lawful permanent resident (green card holder) officially becomes a U.S. citizen. It is the final step of the immigration journey and grants you full rights.

Who can apply?
You qualify for naturalization if you meet these basic requirements:

How long does the process take?
Total time is 8 to 14 months on average:
- Immigration receipt: 2 to 4 weeks.
- Biometrics: 4 to 8 weeks later.
- Interview: 4 to 10 months after filing.
- Oath ceremony: 2 to 8 weeks after the approved interview.
